Sofia del Rivero

“Camila” is a piece full of symbolism, inspired by a woman’s innate gift of introspection. Like in many of del Rivero’s paintings, the recurring flower motif blooming from the woman’s head is representative of her nature to adapt, evolve, and grow into herself over time. The patterns made by the embroidery work are symbolic of the inherited patterns we repeat in our lives. The contrast between the tight stitches and the loose, dangling threads is a play on control and letting go, or repeating patterns we inherently carry and setting them loose when they no longer serve us.
