Between The Serene and Unknowable
It is easy for me to retreat from the ordinary world
Because it is true, I have had no choice
Taking steps backward, tracing life's thin line
Observing from a vantage point behind
When looking forward I can see - nothing
The unknown calls to me in hopes of growing
Lighting the dark hallways with candles
The stories that I could tell - I will
One day I will consider opening the book
Writing down the words that hold me dear
Closing it again with filled pages
Concealed beneath obsidian covers, age-old dust
Setting my sights in better things
Burning the book as I exit the shadows
